I have been looking at this person at school and I want to get to know them better but I don't know how to strike up a conversation.

It sounds stupid, but "hi" and "hello" are the two best things there are.

Personally, this is something we all faced in our lives at some point or the other. Self-confidence is the key here. You must believe that if you find her that interesting, so if you actually go and talk to her then so may she.
Get rid of all fears first. Imagine in your head that what could be the worst possible outcome. At the most, she'll refuse your offer of friendship. Is that really going to affect you? Look at it, there are so many girls out there in this world. Moreover, look at what you have to gain in the best case scenario. You two may end up having a great time together.
So, just be confident. If you find her alone somewhere, go talk to her. Or you if you have some common friends, then ask them to introduce you to each other. Strike an interesting conversation with her and keep her interest in it by being funny from time to time. Keep your fingers crossed...!!! Best of luck!!!

First you want to catch them off guard with something that they would never expect. Ex: A oveweight boss who is hard to get along with and not approachable. "George you are looking like Robert Redford with that red tie.

Ex: An attractive young lady who seem to have everyones attention. Mary, if my eyes were not playing triks on me I would think that you looked just like Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lopez or Halle Berry.

Kindness and flattery breaks down all insecurities and help you make friends and get people to talk to you. But if you are not sincere people will see through you like water in a glass. So be sincere and have good intention for starting conversation.

I always have found that a joke breaks the ice well. Makes the person laugh and feel good inside. If you feel good inside about anything or around anybody, then you want to carry on doing that thing or being round that person. They won't see you as a threat and will be more open, willing to talk and responsive. They'll also think you are good fun.

If this person is a young lady, you just need to be polite and start with a good morning, or hello. My name is ....... and I would like to get to know you . If she is in your classes you might mention that you have seen her there. I wonder if we could study some assignments together, maybe we could have lunch together to get to know each other. If it is a young man, generally the conversation could be almost the same.

Find a point of interest. It can be about the class you are taking together or some magazine or book she is looking at. Why don't you just go up and ask if she would like to eat with you? Why waist time? Besides, girls like guys who don't beat around the bush.

A great place to begin is by saying hello, and then asking their name the conversation has started. Good luck and God bless****

don't say hi. b/c if you do it would be kind of akward espeacially if you have never talken to her before. bump into her say sorry and tell her whats your name. say something small, and then as the days go by slowly start talking

you could pretend an accedent; trip, throw something, bump, if he/she has long hair you couldpretend it got cought on something of yours, or you could fall and "grap on to the nearest thing" and bring 'em down with you, that way you have something to talk about.
*good luck*
