Well if you are schedule for a pap smear they will have to look at it. Remember doctor's see these things all the time. You might be more comfortable with a female doctor in future.

This is your right but if you are at the age when it is time to get a pap smear then you should really think about letting the physican give you a good check up if the doctor is a good one then he or she will take the time to explain every thing that is going to be done and reassure you at all times. after this if you still don't feel comfortable then maybe you should wait a little while longer after talking to your mother or who ever you feel comfortable discussing the subject with.

This is an uncomfortable circumstance for the physician as well. I always take extra time for a 1st exam. I speak with the person fully clothed and explain everything that is going to take place. If the person is more comfortable with a relative or friend in the room for the examination I always permit this (the relative or friend may stay near your head or hold your hand and does not need to see anything). It may surprise you to know that this is generally always embarrassing not just the 1st exam but such exams are good for preventive health so good luck.

how old are you? It's okay. Don't be.
I don't fear pap smears and needles so neither should you. I've had needles in my elbow, shoulder, gluteus maximus.
I donate blood regularly. It's okay. It's all in your mind.
Pap smears are okay, too. Just relax. Go to your happy place. Pretty much... I'm sure a female will be in there. There is supposed to always be(I think) a nurse in there with the doctor when they do this. Last time I had one there was anyway.
then again... I've never had a normal person's insecurities so...

sweetie, dont be scared at all... every woman needs a check up...atleast once a year, you have to have pap smears, to make sure theres nothing wrong with you. My aunt waited too long for a pap smear, and when she did finally go for one, she found out she had cervical cancer...and if she would of gone sooner, they could of caught it b4 it spread. So do not be afraid at all. Doctors see so many vagina's ....they dont care...so dont worry you'll be fine....and it doesnt hurt either :)

That's part of the exam. I promise they won't do anything to you to make you uncomfortable. They are just going to check you out and make sure that everything is ok and that is all!
