That depends on what you perceive to be that which "lives" and "dies".

Yes, I believe in death after death... and then that life also dies and again there is a rebirth. It is a chain reaction you know(;-)
Can we try to explain the concept of a flower without making one feel the smell of a flower? If I need to explain the concept of milk ... then I need to also explain the source from where the milk is derived ... how the cow is fed with the grass ... and for the grass to grow we need big fields ... and if these fields are not cultivated how do we expect to get good quality milk!
On the earthly plane, we visualize everything from the point of view of the senses. Anything beyond the concept of senses is not clearly understood. To be able to understand the entity of a human being ... we need to understand who created it and the purpose behind its creation. The human body is not a creation of the Mankind ... it is our Atman the soul within which has manifested the body ... in the cosmic life span of 8.4 million manifestations (a total cosmic journey of 96.4 million years) ... what is the value of a 70 to 80 years life span of a human being?
We need to understand the basics ... it is the Atman (our soul within) which is governing ... it has taken the body and not the vice versa. Our Atman the soul within needs a series of manifestations for it to liberate from the cycle of Birth and Death forever. The form of a human being is the last leg in the theory of evolution. Before the Atman soul has manifested a human body for the first time ... it has already passed through the various phases of evolution ... the body of an amoeba to start with, then an insect, a plant and finally being born as an animal.
How in the circumstances it is possible that we can even think of understanding the concept of the Cosmos in Hinduism or any Religion of the world unless we understand the underlying truth ... the truth of our Atman the soul within. It is only the ego of a human being that sometimes prevents us from assuming that there is a God. There are Human Beings who want to become immortal in this very life and that to in the physical manifested form. How can that be possible ... it is our Atman the soul within which get liberated from the cycle of Birth and Death ... it is our Atman the soul within which becomes free forever ... what is the significance of a human being except that it helps the Atman the soul within to expedite the journey.
The concept of a previous birth or the next birth is misunderstood. There is nothing of this nature that exists in the cosmic system. Had Human Beings possessed the power to be reborn ... if only it was the human being, which had manifested the Atman soul, only then this anomaly would have truthfully stood its ground. We are born and we die ... nothing is in our control ... the governing factor for every human being is the Karma ... the residual Karma from each birth manifested by an Atman the soul within which gets carried forwarded onto the next life through the chromosomes.
We Human Beings are really to be pitied upon ... we do not have the power even to create the smallest particle existing in the Cosmos ... yet, it is only as a human being that an Atman the soul within can get liberated ... in no other life form can one achieve Moksha Salvation ... the highest and the ultimate power available in the Cosmos is still with a human being ... the power to realize self and merge with the absolute consciousness. Being a creature of reason and logic, after death there is nothing.
Some believe/hope there is some sort of paradise after they die. However, even paradise will become a torture over time.
Some of the very wealthy develope something I like to call the "Heaven Complex". This happens because they are able to buy and do everything they ever wanted. However, when this "fun" wears out (as all such things do), they become depressed.
An eternal paradise is at best unlikely and at worst an eventual torment forever.
I personally find the idea that after you die there is nothing else quite comforting and peaceful.

THATS A GOOD QUESTION!!! I don't know what i believe in anymore. One moment I'm strongly believing in heaven and G*D next I'm drinking and partying up like there's no tomorrow or consequence to my actions. I've been told in church there's death after death and it's called hell. Hopefully that's not true. I would rather just not be anymore when i die. I prefer to just live my life the way i feel best living it. If I die and then end up punished forever at least i had one life, right?! Truthfully i'm scared of death. Who knows what happens?????

The single most ultimate question I've ever heard in my life that also inspired me for so long answers your question.
"Why is there something rather than nothing?"--Bede Rundle
We are something, then there is something part of everything and energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
This concludes that, even if we become sand particles after death, we're still alive. For otherwise, why do you think the mystery of Quantum Theory confused Einstein?
Because sub-atomic particles are accused to be alive and have choice.

that raises the question, is there life after death? there must be life for there to be death, and so the fundamental question of life after death remains preeminent.
But hey, I believe in reincarnation, so no, there is no "death after death". It's one long cycle of birth and rebirth until we reach a certain point, then it's an ethereal existence.

I don't believe in death. I believe that before my soul was released to Earth I was with God, however as a baby I couldn't speak or share my memories with God, so as I aged I forgot. When I "die" the smae thing will happen again, but it's not reincarnation. I don't think I'll come back to Earth.

death after death??? hmmm...i believe in death of the body. but the soul lives on forever. either with the loving arms of god or the evil arms of satan. it all depends on your love of god and the willing of wanting to be with him!

I believe in life after life; and nonexistence after enough repetitions of one's existence. So, yes, I believe one's soul can "die", but rather be absorbed into the Universe.

No. I believe that when you die your are either really dead or just sleeping, waiting for judgement day when you will rise again and live forever. God promises that if we believe in Jesus than we will live forever in heaven on earth. I look forward to that day when I am with my son and family again.
