We know that certain things sensitize ANFO such as AL and heat. What happens if you shoot a boiling solution of AN having sensitized it using metal powders beforehand? I'm not going to try this in real life. It's stupid. I realize it is illegal plus I like my fingers and have too much to live for.

If you mean an aqueous solution of AN, then all it's gonna do it splatter, not explode.

If you mean you are trying to boil AN, not an aqueous solution, then you are correct, that is insane.

Usually AN will decompose into nitrous oxide when heated.

ANFO is set off by heat and pressure. Adding AL does increase sensitivity and shooting it will increase the pressure provided it is a sturdy container. Creating an above ground explosion could throw shrapnell and debris for 2 miles or more. Do not try it.
