Just divide both numbers by their greatest common factor, which is 4.

Look for the largest number which you can divide into both 16 and 20 --> ie 4. So divide both by 4 to give 4/5.
You can't simplify further because no whole numbers divide into both 4 and 5

4 goes into 16 = 4 times
4 goes into 20 = 5 times

you would have to add a .0 to the end to make it theoretically 160/20 which would be 8, but when you move the decimal back the answer becomes .8 or 80%

you find a number that goes into each side evenly.
4 goes into both sides evenly.
divide top and bottom half by 4.

16/20 = 4/5
