Arabic is the official Language...
But many people can speak English...
Some people can speak frensh & German...
But in daily life... We all use Arabic...

It's Arabic mainly! but there are different dialects inside Egypt, It's slightly different in Cairo, Giza and the northern part of Egypt, tend to get more difficult to understand as you go south until you get a completely different language that has nothing to do with Arabic in Nobah! Nobah is an area to the South which people speak a language unrecognizable to the rest of Egyptians! Stick to the northern dialects and you will be ok. People from Nobah are known to understand it when they live there.
NO ONE speaks hierogliphyic any more! That was funny to read in one of the answers. They still can be a couple of words or something used.

Egyptians speak different languages like English, French but all speak Arabic. The Egyptian arabic is different from other countries. They say everyone can understand Egyptians but Egyptians have a hard time understanding everyone. Their Arabic is alot more easier to learn. They typically shorten their words like for Pepsi they call it Peps and Kentucky Fried Chicken they call it Kentucky you get the idea.

the thing that some people in egypt don't know is there is some cities talk beside arabic another language like Noba city talk Nobian city and in Siwa Oasis they talk another language beside arabic but this language is a privet language there no body talk with it except their people
