There's a play called "Happy Birthday Wanda June." There's a hilarious monologue written especially for a 12 year old girl. These guys buy a birthday cake that says "Happy Birthday Wanda June" for a discount. The girl was hit by an ice cream truck before her birthday. She gives the monologue from heaven.
Try to buy the script. You can get it at Samuel French bookstore in L.A. Google for the number.

Hannah

Acouple of thoughts from Shakespeare.
You do know that Juliet is only 13 when the play begins? How about "Gallop apace yyou fiery footed steeds." When she anticipates her now husband Romeo's appearance.

Or how about Prince Arthur from KIing John? Yes, yes he's a boy but if you are a young looking 12 why not? There is a lovely speech (Act III, I think) where he pleads with his Jailor not to put out his eyes. My own son (Yeah, he's 12) found the speech easy to memorize, and portray. It's also not too long, and that's good for auditions.

Have you ever seen Freaky Friday? Anna swithed bodies with her mom Tess who was recently engaged to be married. Here's a really good one from there, when Anna has to make a toast at the party before the wedding while pretending to be her mom.

Anna (as Tess): Uh, hi. Um, I, I guess I'm gonna start the toasts. So, three years ago, we had a really bad thing happen in our family. We lost a father and a husband, and I didn't think we'd ever be able to get over it. But then... this guy next to me came into the picture. And everybody could see I was happy again. I was singing in the shower again. Not well, I might add. But I was still really worried about my kids, Anna and Harry. Whether they'd be able to accept a new man in their life. And now I know how Anna feels. And, and what she feels is that...no one could ever take the place of her dad...because he was a really, really great dad. But somebody could be part of a new family. Its own kind of cool, new, little unit. And that for someone as special as Ryan, that we would all just make a little room. Anna really wanted her mom to know that.

I once did a monologue adapted from the book Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man by Fannie Flag. Daisy is a girl about your age, and the book was hilarious...You can choose the most interesting parts from the first chapter (where she is introducing herself to the reader)
