Breaking the Waves (1996) Starring Emily Watson
Set around Scottish oil rig village in 70s
It was the longest most depressing film I have ever seen. She played the most irritating character I have ever seen in film. I tried to leave a number of times but it had won awards so I gave it every chance. Her character drove you demented and made you hate her, and when she was murdered before the end there was such a sense of relief in the cinema that the whole audience cheered
Now that was surreal !

Battlefield Earth. Let's face it! Why did the studio make this movie based on a novel by L. Ron Hubbard & tanked so bad at the box office? The movie was made for $75 Million & it only grossed over $21 Million, just to pay off John Travolta's salary. I wasted my money on a opening day weekend in 2000 to see this piece of trash!

Vanilla sky without question. I felt cheated when I came out and wanted 136 mins of my life back.
Have avoided most Tom cruise films since and only forgave him after "the last Samurai".
