Why is it that when states are faced with budget shortages, or severe weather as is the case today in some parts of the country, they close down "nonessential state offices". Ummmm, if they are non-essential, why do they exist in the first place? Why not close them permanently ?

Not essential towards helping deal with the storm. The people who process children's health care forms do not need to clog the roads when the applications can be processed the next day. Non essential does not mean not necessary.

Good question. It's not just states, the same phenomena exists at the local & federal levels as well. I don't understand it either. Sorry I can't help.

Why is it we need to pay taxes to help people that are employed to get by on, isn't it because companies are to cheap to pay living wages while taking in millions in profits. We could close a lot of "welfare" offices if you could end corporate greed.

To make jobs. If you worked there you wouldn't be asking this question. Answer me this: why can't minors vote even if they have a strong opinion? And why use the electoral college if it is flawed?

they are usfull but can be closed for a while.so therfor nonesential not like police firefighters ambulances etc.
