Basically the system tells me to uninstall what I've currently got so I can install the free BT Yahoo security package. But there is no trace of what I'm supposed to find in my add/remove programs so I'm really stuck. My current Norton security has very recently expired so I'm in trouble and don't want to part with a lot of unnecessary cash at PC World to buy the latest Norton Security when I'm already paying for it as part of my package. Has anybody got any pointers for me please as I'm at a total loss.

unrar the file, and run the program, It will remove the following
* Norton AntiVirus 2004, 2005, 2004 Professional, and 2005 Professional 2006
* Norton Internet Security 2004, 2005, 2004 Professional, and 2005 Professional 2006
* Norton SystemWorks 2004 and 2005/2006
* Norton AntiSpam 2004 and 2005/2006
* Norton Personal Firewall 2004 and 2005/2006
* Norton Ghost 2003 and 9.0
* Norton Password Manager 2004/2006
It works a treat, I have used it myself.

I dont know the answer to the question, but I installed the Yahoo package a couple of days ago and it took ages to install. The computer has slowed down in a big way when it comes to starting it up too.

The computer is by no means new, so i think the power/speed is going to be slower than some of the new/better ones out at the moment. I cant find how to uninstall this new package just like you cant work out how to get rid of the old one.

Hope it works out better for you!!!

Norton do put together a great programme, but, like the original AOL, it isnt that friendly when you want to get shot of it. If it is still listed in the add remove list then you need to click change rather than remove ( just a little Norton idea?) If you have the original disk, try starting the install and see if you get the option to uninstall. Failing that, they do offer a removal tool on their website.

Awkward. I've read before that norton have an uninstall program if you go to their website. Haven't tried it yet.
I've had the same problem with a corporate version on a laptop. It never uninstalled properly so I couldn't put another one on - even McAfee.
I ended up putting avg free on as it didn't cause any conflicts.
As well as that I had a problem with the free bt yahoo version too.
I'll be watching how this goes as I'd like to know the proper answer.
Good luck

I truly have Norton information superhighway safe practices bundled with my BT Yahoo broadband equipment, and that i actually have the loose A-squared anti-virus programme (even had AVG until eventually lately). i have had no issues updating and dealing both programme, inspite of the actuality that i does no longer run both collectively - slows pc all the way down to a move slowly at the same time as scanning. So attempt it and spot. Or, fairly than uninstalling, disable Norton at the same time as attempting Avast. be constructive to set a fix element earlier you do any ameliorations. As My Brainhurt has warned: sparkling out any quarantined nasties first.

You can find it under symantec in your program files -
It should be also in the add remove programs in the control panel.
There is also a removal tool available from the Norton web site.

if you have 2004 version i seem to recall it no longer being supported so a subscription renewal may not be a option for it.
if its 2005, i would think that a renewal would work for it.
but anytime you remove a norton product (or many others for that matter) you will need to completely have it removed from registry etc.. before you can install another version
there is a norton tool that does this for you
