In russia: the war with the germans was going extremely poorly, with bad leadership on the side of the russians (politically and militarily). Russian strategy was flood the enemy with troops and hope we break through, which got a lot of casualties, and made the russian people angry. There were also massive food shortages to fuel the army, so the people revolted and drove the tsar out of power.

In italy: Although they were an ally, the italians ended up as fascist enemies 20 years later. Why? the allies promised italy some extra territory if they helped in WWI, and the allies didn't hold up that agreement. So the fascist party rose up, hoping to restore the old glory of Rome to present-day italy. The fascist party was also a good politcal force, because they got things done ("they make the trains run on time")

In germany: germany got all the blame for starting the war. All of it. and they basically lost all of their power as a nation and as a people due to versailles. Hitler promised to restore german greatness to the state, and put the german people in their "rightful place" as the "master race".

And on top of all that, everyone was poor during the depression. That was fuel for the fire, since communist/fascist parties promised quick solutions to mass poverty.
