a married man? A friend of mine is planning to meet a married woman he met online for drinks after work. He told me that they have exchanged sexually explicit emails but that they are just friends. I've advised him not go.

Today has been full of very interesting questions.... this one no exception.

If the shoe were on the other foot, would you heed the advise not to go?

You don't need a crystal ball to see where that scenario is going.

There's no WAY that these two couldn't see the next step, either. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are it's a duck. They know exactly where this is heading and covering their eyes as they walk down the garden path doesn't absolve them of the fact that they KNEW where they were going all along. And it won't change that hearts are broken because of their selfishness.

Why so harsh? They haven't even done anything yet! They're "just friends" after all! And there's no way to know that it will end up in a full blown affair.

That's BS. Exchanged sexually explicit emails? Did they show these emails to their spouses? Probably not. A good rule of thumb: if you have to hide it from your spouse, consider it cheating.

You did the right thing in advising him not to go.

People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing. Do their spouses know? What do they think? You are very wise in that this demonstrates a selfish lack of morals and values on the part of both of these people. No goodf will ever come from this. Read Dr. Phils web page below about dating a married person and pass it on to your friend.

Just friends don't exchange sexually explicit emails and it is not right.

Wife is not like girlfriend! Idiot, where I'm from a man will hurt you seriously for breaking up his home. Dumbhead!

yeah - right. It's always "a friend of mine" - fess up pal.
Meeting for drinks after work = shagging later.

NO. Not unless they have other ideas. It would be hard to stop at being just friends.

It doesn't seem like they just want to be friends to me. I think it's wrong.
