Queen Elizabeth would have an interest because then there would be another colony for England. The tax revenue from the colonies would help the government (really at that time it would just help the monarchy). At one time the "sun never set on the British Empire" due to all the colonies the British had.

Land owners would get more land, therefore more money.

Merchants would have new people to sell their goods to.

Explorers would have new ports to stop at, a place to stay during the journey, besides the boat.

Well quite obviously

1. No one has been there, but stories of vast lands filled with gold temples, spices, and many other very rare and valuable things were there for the taking, so she wanted to go to american and take it all, and go back to england and be even richers.
2. It was not owned by anyone, so they could take the land and claim it for themselves.
3. They would get gold/spices/valuables from america, and then once they had enough, they would come back to there home countries and sell it to make money.
4. To find new things of this unknowing land.
