i suggest using a lighter eyeshadow and only using dark shadow when doing smoky eyes or just to add depth to the eye sockets.... also, instead of lining the bottom lash line w/ pencil, try a Highlighter shadow w/ a flat brush, or a pencil in Gold, White, Silvery or even Baby Blue. it will brighten ur eyes more :)

Actually applying makeup for photos is a bit different from everyday makeup. You are supposed to wear a little more of everything, like evening makeup. But you have to be careful with the eye area. Use lighter shades of eye shadow rather than darker so that the eyes appear more alive. Apply eye shadow to the upper eye lid and above the eye just below the eyebrow. When a darker shade is used in this area it will create a darkening of the eyes and give the appearance of a sleepless night.

If you mean the eyemakeup itself looks too dark, try go a shade or two lighter with the eyeliner and shadows. If the makeup makes your eye color look darker, then again go a bit lighter on the eyeliner, or line the very inside and corners of your eyelid with white, or a color that brings out your eyecolor will do the same thing. If you don't want to change your makeup, and it's your eye color that is too dark, try some colored contacts, but it will probably be easier to change your makeup.

yeah pictures are something aren't they? I find that photos don't really accurately depict what you look like to other people, perhaps because of the flash or lighting, or something. If no one has told you that you are over-doing it with make-up then don't worry!
