Say it ain't so!! Get the 67 Impala. Not the Super Sport, but the four door. Get it in black too.

This is a good question.... But each car stands out on its Own..

I like Both but only Super Sport models of each year...
..... 64 409 or 66 396 and 1961 is my fav year for the Impala

The 64 has the best resale value if you fix it up... Depending on the condition you find one in... If you go with a 4 door try to fine a Hard top one... 64 4 dr post cars are ugly...

The 66 is the Best Frame set-up. But is a Heavyer car The Sportback Hardtop is cool. The 2dr Post could be made into a Sleeper but is kind of ugly... And the 65 is the same as a 66 on body style's...

The 1961 Post Sedan 4dr is a cool car I have one of those in my back yard with 283 Go Pack...

Good Luck with your Choice...

If you can get a '66 convertible do it! the soft top has a more unique profile than the fast back. The '64 is cool but avoid the 409 they had a tendency to break crankshafts The '66 with a 396 is awesome. I saw a'66 convertible SS with a 427 and 4 speed in San Marcos Tx. would love to have driven it!

If you're seriously considering buying a classic car, then you might not want to worry about gas mileage. since the majority of cars made before 1970 averaged less then 10 miles per gallon. Depending on engine size and your driving habits, one could get 15-16 miles per gallon. I seriously considered purchasing a 1964 impala with a 258 that averaged about 15 mpg.

Good question, I have owned both cars , both have been ss models.I would have to say the 64 was a great car but my personal opinion is I would go for the 66, myself I enjoyed the look of the body and the power of the 396 engine. The 64 body is a bit to boxey for me. But hey to each his own.

It depends on what your going to use it for.
If you are just going to cruse it than which ever you like better. If you are going to beat it,than the 66 would be the better choice. The 64 has a 2 piece drive shaft and is the weak link and very troublesome. The 66 has a 1 piece drive shaft and is a lighter car.

All other things being equal, improvements were made each year through the 60s, so the '66 would be a 'better' car. But as with all things in their 40s, that would be highly dependent of the particular vehicle in question.

I would choose the 64. Many of the parts are being reproduced which makes it easier to restore. The quality of the reproduction parts are pretty good. You might want to compare what options each car has. This really increases the cars value if you have some rare options.
