my OB did an STD test along with a pap. She asked if I wanted to be tested for them, including HIV. If you want to get tested that first appt is a good time to do it. After that we never discussed it.
I took the HIV test because I found out getting a negative HIV test lowers your life insurance :D

My doctor did all the testing on the first visit. They said they would do them again during the sixth month > their reason being that lots of women unfortunately get things from their partners when they least expect it so they want to make sure baby is still safe. The hiv test is always optional though, eventhough I would think thats the one that should be mandatory but ...

At the initial visit I believe the bloodwork they do is used to screen for STDs and other things...HIV testing, however, was optional for me.
It is important for the doctors to know so they can protect themselves, for one thing, and also to protect the baby...for instance, there is an STD (I think it might be herpes) that can cause blindness if the baby is born vaginally, therefore alternate decisions have to be made beforehand.

properly congrats! i imagine it really is giant that your mom is going to assist out, having a infant is a mess of work no count number how previous you're. maximum new moms worry about being a sturdy figure, it really is a large duty. All any human beings can do is our greatest. As for what to assume, properly some discomfort to commence with lol. you'll favor to deliver something comfortable to positioned on and in all likelihood something somewhat smaller to positioned on abode, a nursing bra is a sturdy idea and some breast pads, . clothing for the babe, a carseat, a infant blanket no matter if it really is chilly the position you stay. deliver shampoo and cleansing soap, toothbrush and paste and some pads, the well-being facility ones are like freaking mattresses they're so massive and uncomfortable, stay away from any with a plastic coating inspite of the actuality that they don't seem comfortable once you may want to positioned on them for weeks on end. I took puzzling sweet with me, from time to time you're not from now on allowed to eat at the same time as in labour so it really is efficacious to have something to suck on. How lengthy you stay relies upon on the way you provide. once you've the babe vaginally you'd be abode in as low as 12 hours. no matter if it really is a c-area then you fairly stay some days a minimum of. My little ones roomed in with me, they'd a bassinet beside my mattress and in straight forward words went to the nursery to be weighed. sturdy success!

They get checked the first check up. Then after that they will get checked only if they complain about something going on down there.

I think they only check during the first series of blood tests unless symptoms of one occur later.

No, not on their monthly check-up, unless the patient wants to be tested because she isn't being faithful or she thinks her spouse/bf isn't being faithful to her one.
Or unless a doctor thinks it best due to complications that are known between her and her patient, for the babys safety.

OB/GYNs generally do cervical cultures and a Pap smear on your first OB visit. After that, they usually don't repeat these tests.
