They are a ball of connected sticks and you can push and pull it and it grows and shrinks in size proportionally. I belive they are colorful as well.

I think you're looking for a Hoberman Sphere, and you can get them at Target (online, anyway)

Im sorry 2 i cant remember its name either but 1 of my science teachers has it. I know u can find one at Kids R' Us
