No. The Open Door Policy was a policy that allowed for all countries to have equal trade opportunities in China. Without it, foreign countries would probably still be fighting over trading rights. The policy was developed in 1899. In the fall of 1898, President McKinley stated his desire for the creation of an "open door" that would allow all trading nations access to the Chinese market. It was put in place because foreign countries sought spheres of influence and claimed rights in China, even though it wasn't their country. The Open Door Policy helped to equal out these rights instead of giving one certain country all the rights. I hope I helped! <3

That's a long paper unless you get into the history behind it. First opium war. Tensions with the U.S. The cultural revolution. Nixon going to China. Current trade policies. Whether they really are 'open door'. As for a chinese perspective, that would be tough unless you find some good books on the subject.

I doubt it. The open door policy was a way for the United States to have a way to trade with China while not fearing 1) dividing China into colonies for other European countries as was done in Africa and 2) not having the responsibility that comes with taking all of China as a colony such as protecting them in times of war.

Extra notes:
90% of Africa was colonized by several European countries at the time. The US didn't want this to happen to China because it would protect their trading.
