I have active security monitor on my desktop( one of the programs that I would,nt be without , alongside mcAfee site Advisor) My ASM has always run on 100% secure and tells me as soon as it dips below this , for some reason, its gone to 79% and its telling me that it cannot detect an anti spyware program on my computer, but , I have my spybot , which has ,run normal everyday checks..( which, incidentaly are fine ) Yesterday I added spywareblaster to my collection , which is supposed to be compatable with spybot, Would this somehow disguise spybot as being installed,? Spybot is such an intricate program and I hope that its not just "running" on my computor , without actually, protecting it. How can I find this out for definate? Has anybody , come across this situation?

I have McAfee site Advisor, spybot and spywareblaster all running together. At least for me they all get along fine with each other.

active security monitor looks like an AOL program - I wouldn't be surprised if they'd done a deal with Norton & McAfee to not report the various free programs, so that people would go out and buy a paid-for program.

I reckon you're protected just fine.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
