YES, of course. By selecting him, the selectors have sent a clear and loud warning to Greg Chappel, which is good for Indian Cricket. Whatever games and politics the BCCI bosses are playing with Ganguly's career, but his selection will definitely give Greg sleepless nights and more fights.
Greg wanted to shove the middle finger up the **** of the public in Calcutta, but now the full right arm of the public must be shoved up his arsehole.

Yes, ofcourse. He is a kind of person who performs when challenged. It was the same BCCI who gave him (like to others) comfort when he didn't perform. Actually there should be one more competitive person on the bench for a healthy competition in the team. Then we will not lose players like Ganguly. See how Sachin and Shewag performs now a days. They're like relaxing in a sunset !!!

under the present circumstances, BCCI had very few options left but to recall guys like Kumble, Laxman and Ganguly ...

in tests, Ganguly is more suited in middle-order (#5 or #6) although he has done very well as opener in ODIs ...

I'm a fan of Ganguly & not a Bengali ;o) He has done gr8 things to Indian cricket. At the sametime he did some not-so-gud things last year! I hope he comes out all-cylinders-blazing, coz this will do a world of gud 2 Indian cricket, which is struggling at the moment :o(

Yes. He should open the innings but should play cautiously to build up the innings. Patience first and then aggression. Good luck to him and the team.
