What should I use to make a simple DNA model?

I am doing a project for school and I can't think of what to use to make my DNA model. I would really like it if you could give me some ideas.

The kits you get from craft stores OR styrafoam balls and like pipe cleaners and tooth pics

Because its a ladder type structure I think some bendy wire covered in felt would be good, sorry i can't remember what they're called or even some plasticine would work.
