It can cause other medications she is on to not work as well. If she does get pregnant while on it, she needs to consult her doctor right away because amoxicillan should not be taken while you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Whether her absorption rate is low or not, she should have been advised by her doctor to use a back up birth control method (condoms) for the rest of her cycle, as taking the amoxicillan would decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pills. She should continue taking the pills so her menstrual cycle stays on track.
If you weren't using a backup method, start now and if you suspect she's pregnant, have her see her doctor. I'm not sure where you live but she may be able to get the "morning after pill".

I can only assume that you aren't wanting/trying to get pregnant.
Good luck!!

Actually, if she's on a gluten-free diet and has been for awhile, her intestines should have just about healed completely therefore allowing her body to absorb nutrients properly.
Antibiotics can lower the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and a backup method of birth control is always recommended when the patient is on the pill along with an antibiotic.

Hello, I am a med and dietetics student. Please take this as an opinion only and not as medical advice as I am not an RD or MD yet. Regardless of your girlfriend's Celiac, whenever a woman is on birth control and she takes an anti-biotic, the effectivness of the pill greatly decreases. Assuming, she is like 95% of the women in this country, she could get pregnant easily if you do not use a second contrceptive (i.e. condom, diaphragm). My best advice to you is remain abstinate for the remainder of her time on the anti-biotic and 7-10 days after as it is still in her body. There are other ways of pleasuring each other without having vaginal sex (i.e. oral). Good luck and hope this helps!

Use of some antibiotics ( but not all) can make the pill ineffective. It is recommended that for the duration of the course of antibiotics and a week after that, you should use a back up method of contraception.
Usually, standard antibiotics are okay, so you guys should be fine. If you are really unsure, get a pregnancy test from the drugstore for your peace of mind and test if the period does not come on the expected date.

i am not a doctor, i am a nursing student. i think it would be difficult to get your g/f pregnant with such a condition b/c she probably gets poor nutrition from being on such a strict diet as are people with celiac's. i wouldnt worry that she is, but if you're trying you may need help...so even though you don't want this advice, a doctor consultation would be best.
