I like having those one year old parties because you will want to look back on it and laugh when he is your age. I suggest you get him something to play with so he can build his motor skills and eye hand cordination skills.

Congratulations!
For my daughter's first birthday, we threw a tiny party at home with family, we bought her small toys like Elmo & stuff that she liked. You can buy a small cake or cupcake, put your boy in his high-chair and let him dig into the cake. It's fun for him and fun for you to watch him get messy with it. Take a lot of pictures too, so he can see himself all messy, when he is older. He will laugh about it and it will make you both smile.
I hope this is a good idea. Good luck.

One is too young for games or much organized fun. Things like Elmo impersonators may actually scare him. Keep it short & simple so it doesn't overwhelm him. It's so easy to get worked up about what to do (my son just turned two and I was way too concerned!). Cake, balloons and presents are all you need to make him smile!

invite close friends & family, have some snacks (adult & kid friendly), his own personal cake (i did a single layer round white cake with no frosting, he doesn't need all that sugar yet), a cake or big cookie "cake" for everyone else, and some presents. just make sure you let him go crazy with his cake if he wants too. it makes for great memories & pictures! i've done it with all three of mine. have him sit in your lap to open presents, don't expect him to react too much to the gifts yet! an hour to an hour and a half is probably long enough. good luck & have lots of fun!!!!

His favorite foods, his own personal baby cake to dive into, close friends and relatives only, and try to keep the party short and sweet because at this age they tend to get cranky after an hour of to much attention and fun. Good luck and God bless!

he is so young??? You are very young. At one a chocolate cake just for them to dig into, get all over his face & make a mess.

Anything else, the kid wont remember.......I would say have
a family birthday party so your baby can get some cool stuff.

Do you have a big family? If so, have a traditional luau. It is a great Hawaiian celebration. The kid gets toys, etc. Look it up on the Internet.

Usually the first birthday party is mainly for the adults! Have a small separate cake for him where he can dip his fingers.
