oh lord. I know what you mean. been there done that. and let me tell you girl.. unfortunately.. it's always going to be awkward at first. there's no escaping it really. I mean you can make a list of things to talk about.. and though it is quite helpful.. it's not going to make that anxious feeling in your stomach go away. but that's the beauty of conversation. it's like writing an essay or a story.. once you get started it's easy as pie. keep in mind that the guy is prolly nervous himself, but you're never going to get to know anyone by avoiding them. just be chill.. try not to show you're a lil scared (I know yeah right huh? lol) and keep that list near by.

hope I've been helpful!

Call a person with a plan of action in mind.
Like this lets say you want to go to a movie call the guy say the small talk and then just ask him for a date. then say cool and hang up. Go for the date and get to know the guy like that.
Then the phone calls will be better and more responsive.
Providing you end up still liking that person. Good Luck!

Talk about things they like in school or what they like to do in their free time. Maybe talk about people you both know, but always try to keep the conversation positive, without putting others down because that can come back to bite you if they talk to those people later.

Talk about homework, music, and what you want to do in your future.

Talking about other things will come natural when you get to know them better. Watch out for guys who want to go out on a date before they know who you really are and what you like. Those guys might be looking for something else and may not appreciate you first.

Conversation can only be interesting if you have things in common with the guy. Instead of picking a cute guy and forcing conversation, join a club or team that interests you and talk to fellow members. You'll have way more fun and you won't have to work so hard.

LOL, I swear, you sound JUST like me. That's what I always say to myself, I think "what can I say to them", or if you want to talk to a boy, not just on the phone, it's like what do I talk about?

Ok, well to tell the truth, I don't kow, so I'm sorry I'm not helping.

Good luck though

What do you like to do? What classes are you in? What sports do you play?
