Amish people are Americans they just practice strict religious ideas.

They don't believe in having modern things like electricity and cars. They live like people did 200 years ago.

Having lived in Lancaster Pa, I can tell you first off, they do not use deodorant or zippers. You can smell one from a mile away since Saturday Night baths are optional.

They are a nuisance to society, despite what anyone tells you. They aren't required by law to have to pay taxes, yet they use our police, fire and health services, and our roads. Although they are pretty self contained, Don't let them fool you. Most DO have electricty, phones and computers, although they still like the horse and buggy deal. They certainly aren't stupid people. The whole old country amish thing is nothing more than a tourist ploy and a money maker for them.

Well they are American, they just separate themselves from everyone else and live in communities together. They're not influenced by modern day technology such as electric and cars. But they are very nice people.
