The abbreviation for 'pound' (weight measure) is lb. as you can see from any grocery/other product that you buy. If you are looking for the short form for 'pound' (British currency), then it is L with two lines across the vertical line of L, but the L is also written slightly differently. (Libra is the word for British pound.). You can find this symbol in any standard dicitonary (but not in the standard computer keyboard used in the US).

It's roman, they called it a Libra, lb. for short. But it's still 12 oz just like our pound, so we kept the same abbreviation.

what? i dont understand your question... "one a my friends" makes no sense...the abbreviation for pounds is lbs...pound is lb....ounces is oz....quart is qt.....tablespoon is tbsp....teaspoon is tsp.....kilogram is kg.....megabite is MB....gigabite is GB.....thats all i know
