Elway? Favre? Jeff George in his early years?

Favre just by a nose over Elway....and Elway has even admitted it.

At the QB Challenge during the mid-90's ProBowls, ALL the QB's, even the ones that weren't selected to the Pro Bowl, would place little verbal wagers. Favre blew everone away by a mile...and that's been documented by several TV analysts including Theismann, Esiason and Paul McGuire. He threw a ball from the end zone and it landed on the 8 yard line at the other end.
Oh yeah, Favre used to throw the football way up into the upper deck at the Georgia Dome when he was a backup in Atlanta...
J. George could never make it there...and no one has since.

Not to mention Favre has broken the fingers on Driver, A. Freeman, Javon Walker...to name a few.

I'd would have to say Favre. I remember watching a show about favre and when he went to the pro bowl back in the mid 90's. Some of the quarterback were throwing as far as they could, trying to make it into buckets on the oppisite side. Favre came so close so many times..... from over 80 yards away. The other quarterbacks were shocked, even elway and marino himself. So i guess that answers your question. But I would like to see how far vick can throw. I think he is the closest to favre

Elway and Favre are closely tied.
Both could throw the ball on a rope for fifty yards.
During a QB contest, Favre let one go for over 80 yards.

Elway was known for throwing so hard, that sometimes the imprint from the edge of the ball would be left on the receivers chest.

Vick probably throws farther than most QBs I've ever seen. I heard somewhere there's a video of him throwing upwards of 70-yards.

There's no way to know for absolute certainty, really. Unless you could line them all up and say "throw the ball". Its one of those questions that can't be answered at the moment.

Jim Thorpe threw an 80 yard TD in 1912 from the right sideline to the far left sideline. No run after the catch. Considering the width of the field I would estimate it was a 90-100 yard bomb. He lived from 1887 till 1953 and is still the most versatile player in my opinion to ever play the game.
