Have to agree with the other users - great question.
You know, I almost see a progression here:
Bionic Man -> Robocop -> Terminator
The de-evolution of man:-(
Why? Because I think The Terminator takes it.
The Terminator is an unrepentant killing machine from head to toe. The Terminator is the more mobile. He's (It's) stronger, more resistant to damage plus he has the cool shades;-)
As much as I'd like Robocop to take this, the current version isn't designed to take on this much power.

what an excellent question...my vote goes to Terminator. First of all he's got RoboCop whupped in the name category...and if you recall Robocop was not particularly indestructible. Sure the common criminal should cower in fear, but when a ruthless gang of hard criminals gets a crack, they take the jackhammer to him. It pretty much took molten steel to stop the terminator. RoboCop was also human at one point, so he has some emotions harbored deep down in there that could possibly get in the way in battle. Terminator was a machine from its inception made for battle...And he has the advantage of futuristic weapons technology. My guess is Robocop would put up a good fight, but is really no match for the Terminator.

What a GREAT question!
I'd have to say Robocop, here's why. Forget about their cool names, their names aren't the ones that are fighting.
First, Terminator would not realize that Robocop had a human brain. He would probaly treat Robocop like any other robot, maybe team up with him unsuspecting, in his plans to wipe out the human race. Don't forget that Terminator has an outer covering of human skin that was grown on him too! So he would probably just think of Robocop's human face as camouflage.
Robocop is no dummy. He would be sharp enough to realize that he had to take out Terminator alltogether, and he is just the guy to do it. He made short work of ED-209, didn't he...?
With that armor piercing supervelocity rifle, all he'd have to do is hit Terminator in a few vital joints to immobilize him, then he could cut off Termy's head and use it for a soccer ball, while writing him out a ticket for littering and illegal disposal of bodies.
Also, Terminator would not realize that Robocop has that backup weapon-- the concealed magnum in his thigh. There are not many hand held weaons that could do damage to Terminator. but the magnum is one of them, especially from point-blank range. And Robocop is clever enough to play possum until Termy comes up to inspect the remains.

I would like to see a grudge tag-team match between Terminator and Robocop v. Barney Fife and Tanya Harding.
Terminator was overrated; wasn't he terminated (squished) by that chick at the end of the movie.

Just as a side note, Dark Horse Comics did this fight as a mini series a few years ago. Good stuff.
I'm going to disagree with everyone so far and say the RoboCop's going to win this one. It's the human element that I think will twist it in his favor. Although there's not much of his human self left, there's enough that he'll be unpredictable, while the Terminators are stuck to their programming. That unpredictable factor will give him an edge over SkyNet.

GIVE ME A BREAK! The Terminator would pulvarize Murphy! That Terminator is out there. He can't be reasoned with, he can't be bargained with. He doesn't feel pity, remorse, or fear, and he absolutely will not stop EVER, until you are dead. Murphy has human feelings. He is a little ***** if you ask me. He is nothing more than a man wearing a coca-cola can in my opinion.

Depends on which Terminator you're referring to.
Is it Arnie's T-800 or Rob Patrick's T-1000.
Well, it doesn't matter either way becuase they BOTH can kick Robo's azz. He got his butt spanked by lowlife thugs.
The Terminators need explosions, heavy equipment, and even liquid nitrogen to take them apart. AND they STILL keep coming.
My money's on the Terminators.
