does this sound right?
i mean, is it true?
"Fair trade relates to the Open Door Policy because the Open Door Policy allowed foreign countries to have fair trading rights with China. That does not mean that the farmers/workers in China were fairly paid."

It sounds like a pretty dumb statement.

The statement says there is not necessarily a relationship between fair pay and the open door policy, which is not the same as saying there isn't a relationship. But it gives the impression of confirming the latter without supplying any reasons (a pretty lame and lazy way of arguing).

For the record:
- China does not export coffee, at least not significantly
- Foreign invested companies pay more than domestic private or state run companies.
- Fair trading rights mean that foreign companies get treated without discrimination. It has nothing to do with how much staff are paid

I would demand a refund on my tuition fees.
