You are right, people will know that you are avoiding them. The only way that people will stop spreading rumors about you is if you stand up to them and maturely let them know that what they are saying isn't true. Be kind, don't stoop to their level, stupid rumors are below you! If you don't go to school you will help them prove that whatever they are saying about you is true. If it is truely false, you wouldn't let it bother you, and would go about your business of recieving an education. Tell your friends that are mad at you that the rumors are not true, and that you trust that as your friends they will back you up. Good luck, and be stong, you will get through it!

Read this I know EXACLY how you feel...unfortunately. I won't go into my story but I'll tell you one thing, it was WAY worse than your's, the rumors were just too nasty and it really hurt me.
For starters, go to school! Show them that you don't care about these rumors (even though you do, because most of us do even if we don't like to admit it), and most importantly, education is way more important than these rumors and those girls who are spreading them. I'm truly sorry that this is happening to you, because I used to come from school everyday crying and I'd rather die than go to school the next day but my mom promised me that it would get better. Honestly, I don't know how I made it out of there, but I'm in a better school now.
Tell your friends that the rumors aren't true and that if they were true friends they'd know that. Try to explain everything to them. If they're still mad at you then what kind of friends have you made? If they understand and say sorry to you then good. But if not, like I said, you should find better friends because they're not worth it.
That's all I can say.
Remember, it will be ok at the end. Trust me

Way too much drama. School is for learning. Maybe you should consider independent study and getting a part time job. I am assuming that you are in high school. It's time to get out of the gossip mill and into real life where you can make a difference and quit wasting valuable time and energy!
