A solution of alcohol in water drops its melting point. A lot of things, in fact, drops the melting point of water when added to it, like salt for example, or ethyl glycol, which is the reason why it's added to radiator water to keep it from freezing.

Beer in a bottle or can can freeze for the most part, but not completely. the freezing point for alcohol is a lot lower than the required 32 for water

Adding alcohol to water lowers its freezing point because the alcohol forms hydrogen bonds with the water. It *will* freeze, but not at the temps some freezers can obtain.
For reference, ethyl alcohol has a freezing point of -117 deg F.

Because the freezing temp for alcohol is lower then what ur freezer can do... also if you leave a beer in the freezer for a long time it will explode due to the carbonation in the drink .... now if you put tequila it will not explode.

beer contains ethanol, and ethanol has a lower freezing point than water. Even a small amount of alcohol added to water can prevent it from freezing (similar principle for using antifreeze in the car)
