I have bought a couple of good quality ones lately, but my hair is just as wet after swimming as if I hadn't had one on - if they don't work, what are they for? Thanks for your advice (I'm a new swimmer by the way!)

Not that I know of! Do you not want to get it wet or are you concerned about chlorine damage? If you are worried about chlorine damage then put a little conditioner in your hair before puttting the cap on.

No your hair always get wet! I used both good and bad ones and still some keep hair little more dry but if you swim long enough hair always get wet. I am on swim team at school and swim hat helps you to move faster through water better then it do at keeping hair dry.

Swim caps aren't to keep your hair dry. They are to keep it out of your face while you are swimming and reduce drag in the water. It's impossible to find a swim cap that keeps your hair completely dry.

No swim hat will keep your hair dry, you can wear a good hat but it will always seep some pool water

Caps are for speed- long hair is heavy and slows swimmers down.

Caps aren't meant to keep your hair dry. =]

caps aren't there to keep your hair dry, they are there to tuck it away so they don't slow you down.
