I am from scotland and we hear this instrument quite a lot it is hellish.

If you check out the BBC website I am sure you can hear radio Scotland programs on broadband. There is an excellent show called 'Pipeline" which will no doubt thrill you.

Yes here you go. There are many useful links also. If you click on the "listen again" icon you should be able to hear the noise of the bagpipes.

Indidentally in English folk music there are many types of smaller, quieter and less offensive bagpipes which may interest you more.

There are at least two pipe bands in Argentina:

St. Andrew's Society of the River Plate Pipe Band
http://sasrp.org/pb/

The Highland Thistle Pipe Band

If you are looking for an online community of pipers, I highly recommend the BobDunsire.com forums:
http://www.bobdunsire.com/CGI-BIN/ultimatebb.cgi

And good reference information about bagpipes is here:
http://www.bagpipejourney.com

Stick with it! The pipes are an incredible and unique instrument.

My sister-in-law does - a very useful way to make a bit of extra money at New Year, and on Burns' Night!

I tried once whilst drunk in France with a Pipe Band (don't ask) and it was very difficult!

I love the sound of them though!
