My doctor also prescribed a medicine that they said was fine for the baby a few weeks ago but when I got home with it the prescription said that it had been shown to cause harm in unborn babies.... so I wanted to know if anyone had heard anything bad about this medicine with pregnancy?

Hi, I feel bad for you with the headache. As for the tylenol 3 w codeine i was given it the last 3 months of my pregnancy for horrible back and abdominal pain. The only thing my doctor said was try not to take it all the time and if you go into labor DO NOT take it. It actually relaxes the baby. The only other thing my octor said was it can be addictive to you and the baby if you take it all the time. Hope the headaches go away.

I don't think you can. Tylenol #3 has codine in it. I was prescribed that for pain after I had a miscarriage. I know you can take regular strength Tylenol. I was told to take only the regular and not the extra strength during the pregnancy.

If your Dr. prescribed it, I would think the know what the effects are and that it is okay. I had a friend recently that was prescribed imitrex in her 8th month for headaches and she feels safe. If you have questions or doubts, call your Dr or get a 2nd opinion. I also know that tylenol with codeine won't alleviate the long-term headache, just mask the pain because it is a narcotic.

Yes, Tylenol w/ codeine is safe during pregnancy. Just take it only when seriously needed. If it wasn't safe your Dr. wouldn't have prescribed it. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I am also 28 weeks... Doc said tylenol is fine... but was it your OBGYN that gave you the prescription? If so, then I wouldn't worry... if not then I would call him just to make sure...

Good Luck!!

You should be alright since you are out of your first trimester, since the Dr prescribed it, take it as prescribed when necessary.
