If a woman is physically capable of meeting combat inclusion standards why should she be barred from combat and combat-related jobs? Does the majority of the american public still hold the creepy paternal attitude toward women that delegates them into the background? Do americans really think that women are emotionally incapable of combat? There are women out there physically capable of meeting the required standards for men - there is no arguing with this fact. So why are women still being discriminated against? Does anyone else find this absolutely ridiculous?

There are women capable, yes. Few.
I recall one woman was captured during the Gulf War over Kuwait and she was brutally treated because she was a woman.
The backpacks and equipment they carry is 60-80 lbs.
If they can do it why not.
If they can't, just like a lot of the men also, they get washed out.

Women, as a general statement (yes, I realize that there are certainly exceptions to the rule), aren't physically capable of meeting combat standards. Women menstruate (and, therefore, can't sit in a foxhole for two weeks without a shower or more than a babywipe), women (on average) could not carry the deadweight of a 200lb fellow soldier, etc.
It's not ridiculous that, in combat, the standards are high and tight. To risk lives for the sake of political-correctness or sexual equality if ridiculous. War is war, combat is combat and "egalitarianism" doesn't apply.

lyWoman do fight in combat, we have woman fighter pilots, It's not so much as being discriminated against, as the men feeling that they have to protect us. I personal would not my 18 yr old daughter in a combat zone in a foreign country, However if you want to fight me on my own territory USA a mother bear is the most dangerous of all

yes...i believe that if a woman actually WANTS to be in that position she should be able to...its cute how some men still feel the need to try and "protect" what they believe is the "weaker" sex, but it might be time to stop playing big brother...

It's more that if they get captured, the "interrogation" that will be performed on them may be far more brutal that anything done on the battlefield
