Some answers are quite technical and full of information. So is there an anti copying placed by yahoo so I cant copy/paste but have to write it down. If so, could they remove it for our benefit.

I am using IE6. Am able to drag/shade and copy paste from other websites. Tried control/C and nothing happens.

it's probably your browser not yahoo.I use Internet explorer 7 and firefox and I can copy and paste all the time without any problem , try getting firefox and then try copy / paste , firefox is a free open-source browser you can download it free here : http://downint.googlepages.com/Firefox.html
