Welcome to the world of fuzzies. Glad to see you do your homework to be the best fert owner you can be.
You could google some sites, but I think a good way to learn a lot fast is to hook up with other ferret owners. I did that by joining online groups, like FerretWhisperer, FerretsAcrossAmerica and FerretsAnonymous on Yahoo!. I'm sure there's lots of others out there. Do a search.
Here's one with a list of different foods:
http://www.mdferretpaws.org/care/food_treats.html
www.mdferretpaws.org also has other info on it.
Hope you'll never need this one, but it's on feeding sick ferts:
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=11&articleid=540
Here's the one for the American Ferret Association, Inc:
http://www.ferret.org
And then there's the ferret owners manual:
http://www.thechipster.com/fert-man.html
So you see, there's an endless amount of information out there.
Read "Ferrets for Dummies", it's a good book full of good info too.
Message me if you have and questions or troubles.
You were just kidding about not going to school, weren't you???
How are you going to brag about your new ferret if you're staying home? Take pictures of it and take them with you and brag away, lol. Some people don't like ferrets because they smell a bit and to some people they look like rodents. I love ferts, have 4 myself, mostly adopted ones from the Humane Society.
Good luck to you and enjoy!!!

I believe the best site for ferret information is Ferret Universe. There is a lot of info regarding proper nutrition, common illnesses and general care as well as a message board with great members who share their experiences with ferrets and are a wealth of information. I own two male ferrets and find this website to be invaluable.
