I think weaker. It's too easy to call it quits and if one wants to work at it there isn't anything thay can do to stop the other. Seems anymore it's just a piece of paper that says "We're having sex and you can't say anything bad about it". Thank God I have a real marriage!

We used to have large families that lived together.
Now we have nuclear families.
With smaller family units we have more control over how to raise our children, but at the same time the child is being raised less by people and more by things (TV, video games). Parents that want to have a career do so at the expense of the child. Then the child grows up and doesn't know how to raise a child. With our American independent nature we have also lost ourselves and maybe our future.
Its not my place to say which is better, but I'm doing the best I can with what I have.

Things are getting worse. The "old school" way of thinking was to stay together, and raise the family. These days, with both parents having to work, people addicted to work, families not dining together, and latch-key kids, values are suffering. I long for things to be the way they used to - the man worked, the woman managed the household, and families were more grounded. With shows like "Temptation Island" and other crap like it, there is no sanctity left in marriage anymore. Sad, but true.

Because of today's society and what we are taught in public schools since a child, a marriage has become a complete waste of time. Has absolutely nothing to do with better or worse or richer or poorer anymore thanks to the government's input throughout the years. Is all a scam to make money off a divorce anyways.

my mom just talked about this. she said that her parents got divorced when she was 17, but they were fighting constantly her whole life. they should have gotten divorced long before but the stigma was too much. they had to stay together for the kids, that's why they waited so long. but my grandfather felt he had a responsibility to be there until my mom and uncle were old enough to be on their own.
i think it depends on the family, because i know people that are going through the situation i described above today. divorce was much less common back then but it doesn't mean that it couldn't have been a solution to a problem.

How can anything be better today than back then, when Satan has spread so much more since then. Statistics will tell you how murders were less, back then, all crime was low, Mothers cooked, cleaned, took care of children and fathers worked and provided. How can that be bad, that is our duties as parents. I think the whole world has gone to crap. If it ends today, will you be ready?

I think it is getting weaker. It seems like almost all family are full of some type of drama. Divorce is the norm now.

It's getting stronger because people realized that the "free love" generation all ended up in bitter divorces and misery.
