I did a degree in psychology then went on to work as a cognitive behavioural psychologist in a clinical setting. I hate it. Nobody tells you that most of what you do in your degree is irrelevant and that you will be the worst paid graduate ever (15k tops). Spaces on clinical courses are like gold dust and even to become an assistant psychologist is difficult i think the ratio is around 150 applicants per post. The atmosphere i work in is not what i expected, quite the opposite, its bitchy, backstabbing and every other assistant tries to play one up. If your looking to do this try to get a shadowing placement first. It may not be possible with a clinician but it may be possible with an assistant.

I'm trying to go back to uni to do a completely different degree at the minute.

Psychology was a part of one of my degree, and I'm practicing it right now with my present job. It's feel good.

I got a BA in psych in 86. I work in occupational safety and it does help a bit there.

Unless you plan on getting a Master's right away, study something else.
