In school I was taught that women can get pregnant at any time, and it's the same thing that I read on here. Anyway, I have PCOD and didn't want to miss an ovulation.My plan was to have sex every night, and twice a day when I'm ovulating. Is this too much? Will the "build-up" of semen cause me to have a lesser chance of becoming pregnant? Would the sperm become weakened? What are your thoughts?

You got a lot of wrong information so I thought I would clarify a few things....
Twice a day everyday is too much. It doesn't hurt your chances but it doesn't increase them. Sex every other day is plenty. If you have sex 2 days before ovulation you would still have very good chances.
Sperm lives inside a woman body (during the fertile time) for up to 5 days. 2-3 days is a more typical average but they have been known to live for up to 5 days if a woman has quite a bit of fertile cervical fluid.
The egg can live for 12-24 hours (some sources say up to 48 hours). Any sperm waiting on the egg or any sperm that get to the egg before it is fertilized are in the race to fertilize it.
Any sperm that are weak or too old will more than likely not be fast or strong enough to beat out the ones who are still going strong.
If you are worried about missing your ovulation day, then you should look into charting your BBT and watching your fertility signs. A simple rule of thumb....if you have an increase in cervical fluid (discharge) or ever see egg-white looking discharge, you are very close to ovulation. Anytime you see this, you should do the deed!
Not every woman ovulates in the exact middle of their cycle. A general rule of thumb is too count back 10-14 days from the day you expect your next period. The time between your ovulation and your period is called your luteal phase. Your luteal phase should be pretty consistent. Most women don't have one longer than 14 days and you need at least 10 days to sustain a pregnancy.

This is not a good idea and yes it will hurt your chances. I have been thru the whole infertility thing twice which is very frustrating. But here is what I have learned. I have two boys. And my specialist told me to have sex every other day (once every other day). You only have about 24 hours that you can get pregnant in a month. Sperm stays in the body for appox. 48 hours. The egg is there waiting for 24 hours. So if you do that every other day you will always catch it. Also, a man has to make more sperm. He produces it all the time. So this gives him time to rejuvinate those little suckers. And if you dont already know your most fertile time is 14 days before your next period. On a 28 day cycle that is day 14 but of course not every has this. So take your average on your cycle days and divide by two. Then start having sex every other day about 4 days before that day for a week or so. That should catch it on your ovulation day. But still that does not guarantee it. There are so many factors. But you get the idea. I wish you the best.

No, you have just as much of a chance of getting pregnant the first time you have sex as all the other times.

There's no such thing as build-up of semen. Only way you can't get pregnant with a lot of sex is if your man is not fertile enough or either any of you are using contraceptive methods or you're on your infertile cycle. If you're not getting pregnant as you planned, then both of you should go see your doctor to determine what the problem is. Maybe you're steryl.

Most healthy men have enough sperm in their testicles every day to have sex mutiple times. So it is only a concern if your partner has low sperm count.

yes too much sex can cause you not to get prego......its not you its the man his body needs time to produce more sperm....sex every other day is better than all the time.....and sex early in the morning is when he has the highest sperm count

I have heard that intercourse is best when every other day. This allows time for semen to have time to increase.

yes, because the more sex u have the more chance u have of getting a baby, just use protection and dont do it too much.
