No, it can be out of shock or surprise. Once when I was reading "The Odessa File" by Frederick Forsythe, at one point in the book there was a twist so shocking that I actually gasped out loud I was so surprised.

No I gasp when I'm in pain, get a sudden change of temperature, at the first moment of penetration, when I'm shocked or when someone really insults me.
