"Cicely, Alaska" only exists in the TV show. The shots of main street, the painted brick building, etc are from Roslyn, Washington, in the Cascades (snow country). Washington, not Oregon as someone posted.

One of the episodes explained the origins of the name Cicely as one of two women lovers at the turn of the century. The other lover was Roslyn. I thought that was a nice little inside joke.

The wacky characters they had? Pretty dang spot on. Our radio station owner is very conservative but has a gay son. I know someone who lives in a treehouse all year (really!), a homeless guy who relocated to an old homestead cabin, my doctor mushes in the Iditarod, my house builder hunts moose with a bow, several friends are building their own planes, etc.

Although Cicely is a make-believe town it was modeled on two wonderful little towns in Alaska - Palmer and Talkeetna. I live in Palmer and it is very special!

Cecily Alaska is not a real city. The show was filmed in Oregon.

Cicely, Alaska. It was made up. One of my favorite shows. Sure wish the lady pilot wound up with the doctor, but that didn't happen.
