Has Carl Jung's psychological idea of the human "unconscious" been discredited?

Please explain by whom and on what basis that occurred?

It was Freud who came up with the concept of the unconscious. Jung expanded thie concept and introduced the idea of a "collective unconscious" which is the part of the unconscious which Jung believed was shared by humankind. As a psychological construct, the collective unconscious never really caught on. As well, the Freudian / Jungian concept of an unconscious has also been a source of some controversy, as some (Popper, Watson) considered it as lacking in scientific and rational validity (it couldn't be proven). Modern cognitive psychologists have tended to view unconscious processes outside the Freudian / Jungian construct and it's psychoanalytic trappings. They prefer to use concepts such as "implicit memory" to describe things that we are unaware of that still effect our behaviour.

The short answer is that the idea of an "unconscious" has been "reframed" by some, and discounted by those taking a strict scientific approach, but not really discreditied.

I don't think it has been discredited. There have been a good number of new fields of thought since Jung, but the biggest part of what he has said is still a basis for most types of psychology today.
