The key words here are "up to" 100 feet. That's with a clear line of sight and no barriers between the NIC and the WAP. As soon as the signals have to pass through a wall or two, range will drop significantly.

I have the same antenna and the same problem. When they say 100 feet they mean linear feet so that is straight line distance between the router and the adapter. If there are walls inbetween then the signal strenght will dramatically decrease. I recommend using the white USB extension and just moving the adapter around a bit, I found a good spot about 6 inches to the left of my monitor on the top of a book that is standign on my desk. If you really cant find a good place take it back and then go to Best Buy they have linksys signal boosters for about 100 bucks that are specifically designed for multi-level homes.

you can disable the one you are not using, then re-enable it later. my question is WHY though? Doesn't the 108Mbps adapter work? I thought they usually work with all bands, it would just drop to whatever is available.
