I just bought this thing last year for my kid at christmas and now it will not upload any games.Do i need to replace it again?

I have had the same one since it first came out. but i have had many friends complain about theirs breaking. I think it is much more likely to break if you move it around a lot, or get a lot of moisture around it (high humidity, like from a swamp cooler). Also, I find it helpfull to use a lense cleaner on mine regularly.
Also sony will fix them if you call thier customer service number then send it in. they will make you pay shipping though.

Maybe the disks are to scratched on the bottom, or if you play to many DVDs it can ruin the laser that reads ps2 games

if it says "disc read error" that is a common error with ps2s. i doubt they break down every year. i used to have the old one and i knew that was gonna break so I sent it in. I believe u dont

I have had my ps2 for almost 4 years and it hasn't broken down on me yet. Maybe your games are scratched.
