Left arm pain does not necessarily indicate heart problems. Most heart problems start with pain radiating from the center of the chest, and usually start after exercise - running for a bus for example. Pain that starts in the chest, then radiates into the left arm, is cause for immediate visit to the ER.

The fact that the pain comes and goes suggests is musclo-skeletal, although the finger problems could suggest a neurological problem.

It's not possible to get an accurate diagnosis online! Make an appointment with your doctor for a checkup.

Does it radiate up and down? could be signs of heart failure...or if the pain just lingers around the elbow, could be tendonitis or tennis elbow......oh ya STOP SMOKING
