He pretty much tells it like it is. Yes, he is qualified. He got his start on Oprah Winfrey. But he is a certified psychologist and I like him. However, I have noticed lately the show is becoming more like entertainment than helpful information. I hope that stops because I don't want Dr. Phil to start getting like Jerry Springer.

The problem is that even though he might have the degrees and license, by going into the media realm, he knows that if he doesn't cover issues and handle them in ways that will get ratings, no more show.
You'll find that there are a good amount of mental health professionals that don't give much credit to those that try and go over into "pop psychology". I'm not in the field anymore, but I have a MA in clinical psych... I was stuck in a MD waiting room and they had an ep of Dr. Phil on the tv... about 10 minutes was all I could take.

He does show compassion by giving it to people straight. Loving does not equal being nice. I know I needed someone to stop saying "Poor baby" and giving me hugs and compassion and start giving me some honest opinions about how I am perceived and what the effects of my actions are and offering me straight up, honest and realistic solutions to my problems. I didn't like it at all at first but today I pray that others in bad situations are blessed with the kind of cold water on the face approach as I was because my life is 2 million percent better because of people like Dr. Phil. That's love. That's help.
He has all his education and has been a practicing therapist for over 20 years. So maybe he knows what he is doing.

To be honest with you, i think that he is just putting on an act. He does not know 2shits about peoples emotions and psychology. There is a reason why he brings in really therapist and professional psychologusr, because he has not a clue. He is just a host and nothing more. And it's true, he has no compassion and he is very insensitive. That only is enough to prove that is a clueless about psychology and he is about anything else.

Dr Phil doesn't Coddle or enable, therefore in this new Politically Correct, Touchy Feely World I think He is uniquely qualified.

Dr. Phil is a hack. He shouldn't be able to give advice. I don't think people realize that I could give you better advice than he can.
