Of course, the government hides the truth about somethings. These things are called State Secrets, and must be kept secret because America's enemies can use the information to cause great harm.

I'm no jingoistic, drum beating, flag waving, rightist reactionary, but I recognize that there are legitimate reasons why many details about military and diplomatic operations are not released. But, I DO believe that there are those, in government and other positions of authority, that abuse this policy by hiding things that SHOULD be done in the light of public scrutiny. I am convinced that government contracts, and back room deals are covered up by the "national security" blanket so that personal gains can be made and fair competition is eliminated.

And there is one more thing, about which I am also convinced. It is that this process goes on, no matter WHO is at the top. While there is a lot of publicity about Republilcan scandals and cover-ups in recent news, I do NOT believe that this a malady unique to the GOP.

A warning to the newly elected Dems: Watch your act. Because if you don't behave, you can be sure the good people of this nation WILL be watching your act very closely.

Oh sure...it's been done since before "the birth" of the USA and in other countries for centuries.

If you look at the ruling government as the Shepard's and we are the sheep...then you'll see that the Shepard can't and won't tell the sheep that they are about to be lamb chops...or that they are running out of food...or the water is bad...it would create mass hysteria in the sheep, right?

Well...that's pretty much how our government sees us little people and so, no way are they telling us anywhere near everything that is going on.

The government is supposed to keep things secret from us. If they told the populace everything that went on, there would be mass chaos in the world and nothing would ever get done. It's position is to keep everyone in control. Yes, there is accountability, but it only goes so far.

Of course! They hide the fact they are disolving our border and entering a Pan American union starting with the trans-texas corridor. They hide the money supply from us, thanks to the latest move by the Federal Reserve Bank to no longer make public the amount of US Dollars in circulation.

They lie about secret spy programs, and then pass draconian legislation to further restrict our rights and grant themselves immuity for violating the laws.

They hide the real motive for going to war with Iraq, and sell us on a lie about WMD.

ANd they lied about 9/11, the terror attack they carried out to scare all the restof you sheep into going along with their fascist plans.

The government doesn't lie about anything, they lie about everything. The reasons that were given for going to war in Iraq were lies and they knew it well in advance. They simply use everything from slanting the truth to outright blatant lies to achieve things that will empower or enrich them or their agenda's.

Yes i believe they are hiding every last thing that they can so they can release new technology as if it took forever to make but they have actually had it for years and never released it.

who cares?

if knowing is only going to cause unnecessary widespread panic, then why tell people?

i only care about things i cant touch, see, and feel. i care about my microcosm and my life. yeah, it's selfish, but you cant count on anybody else to look after you in this world.

so i worry about me. my life is good. i'm happy with it. nothing is missing from my life. so whatever the government may be hiding, i say let em. i dont need any added stress.

Are you kidding? I don't think the government even knows how to tell the truth. They just figure out what is political advantageous and that's what they say.
