i have this intense fear of driving. i was in a car accident a few years ago and that made me not want to learn how to drive even more. People tell me "oh, you will get over it once u learn and get use to it" but i don't even want to learn that's how terrified i am.

I really need to learn how to drive. I want to. Im just so petrified. Is there anything i can do to overcome my fear?

Yes... Driving

You need to replace the bad memories with new experiences of good and safe driving.

If you run from your fears, you'll spend your whole life running. Life is FULL of scary stuff, face it down and destroy it so it doesn't destroy you.

Fear is something that you just get over... what that means is that the need must be more than the fear. You have to put your mind to it. before you get in a car you need to think logically. What could happen, what are the odds of that happening.
Try driving in an empty parking lot where nothing can happen.

Try to have a supportive friend or a family member go with you for a drive around the block, then to a store, then somewhere farther, etc. You will probably find it isn't as bad as you thought it would be, and you will feel so much better overcoming it. :)

I went through the same thing, after a car accident. I would get sick to my stomach and would get that feeling of panic when I knew I had to drive somewhere. It did take time and I did get over my fear.

However you might want to talk to a professional about your anxiety.

Start out with very short trips and gradually build your time behind the wheel. That's the only way. Good luck!
