Why was Persia envious of Athens?

I don't know about Persia and Athens.
Sean - since you are new to this site - let me
show how to get more points.
On your profile page, right next to Total Points is a
small blue question mark (?), click on that and
you will see how the points system works.
Also, click on Leaderboard, right next to your actual
points total. That will show you how many points some
users on Yahoo Q/A have accumulated.

Don't know about you, but given a choice between Athens and Tehran, I rather live in Athens anyday.

Athens had a better trade system, and they also had more "enlightenment" ie the arts and education.
Shouldn't this question have been under History and not News & Events?
